Sam Weinstein

Sam Weinstein, MD, MBA, is President and Chief Executive Officer of SpecialtyCare, Inc, the largest provider of Allied Health Services in the United States.  Dr. Weinstein joined SpecialtyCare in 2015 as Chief Medical Officer and was promoted to President of Operations in 2016. During this period, Dr. Weinstein led SpecialtyCare’s commitment to advancing patient outcomes that not only decrease post operative complications, but also control cost for hospitals and payers.

Prior to SpecialtyCare, Dr. Weinstein served as a medical operations consultant for a variety of healthcare companies, helping to improve performance in perioperative care, pediatric ICU management, organ transplantation, blood utilization, and patient safety. He has also worked as an executive coach for hospital/surgical leadership roles. Dr. Weinstein is a board member and surgical director for Heart Care International, whose mission is teaching congenital cardiac surgical techniques and critical management to local physicians in economically challenged countries. To date, he has taken over 30 mission trips to Guatemala, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, and Peru.

Sam holds board certifications in cardiothoracic surgery, congenital cardiac surgery, and general surgery and before retiring from his medical practice served as Director of Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery at The Children’s Hospital at Montefiore, Albert Einstein University, in New York City.

Sam graduated with a BA in History from University of Pennsylvania and received an MBA from Fordham University. He earned his MD degree at The State University of New York at Stony Brook and received postdoctoral training in surgery and cardiac surgery at The Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York. He obtained additional training in pediatric cardiac surgery at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Dr. Weinstein is the author of more than 100 publications and presentations.

Dr. Weinstein resides in Nashville, TN, and has four children with his wife of almost 30 years.  They all enjoy skiing, wake surfing and traveling.
