Alex Bernstein

Managing Partner, Kingfisher Investment Advisors

For nearly three decades, Bernstein has been providing strategic and financial advice to leadership teams of both public and private tech companies and several non-profits. Bernstein, along with his Israeli co-founder, is the Managing Partner of Kingfisher Investment Advisors (AUM >$250m), a growth equity fund investing in late stage private tech companies in the Unites States, Europe and Israel.

Previously, Bernstein held increasingly senior roles (New York/San Francisco) with C.E. Unterberg, Towbin, and several other technology-oriented investment banks. He helped his clients complete over 150 initial public offerings, and approximately 50 M&A and private placement assignments, aggregating to over $4.5 billion.

Bernstein received his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and attended Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs. He lives in San Francisco with his wife, high schooler (two have already left) and dog.

Bernstein stays very involved in the community: he started the Science and Technology Committee at his children’s SF public school to provide extra STEM class time; is a founding board member and past president of Camp Ramah Galim, a Jewish summer camp in Monterey, CA; and the former Treasurer and board member of San Francisco’s JCRC. In his free time, Bernstein bikes, hikes, travels extensively, reads the NYT and weekly New Yorker, listens to 80s British rock, and manages the family backyard garden.
