Mr. Katz is co-founder and Managing Partner at Angeles Equity Partners, responsible for overseeing all aspects of the firm's investment activities. Angeles Equity Partners makes opportunistic, control-oriented investments in businesses it believes can benefit from the firm's strategic, operational and M&A capabilities. The firm seeks to work with sellers in a flexible and solutions-oriented manner. This includes working collaboratively with a portfolio company’s management team to create an individualized, comprehensive blueprint designed to increase the operational performance of the company and, as a result, unlock its full value
Prior to co-founding Angeles Equity Partners in 2014, Mr. Katz co-led the Industrials vertical at The Gores Group with Tim Meyer. During his over 11 year tenure at Gores, Mr. Katz served as a member of the board of directors for numerous portfolio companies (or their successors/ acquirers), including United Road Services, Sage Automotive Interiors, Cosmo Specialty Fibers, Proxicom, Hyperspace Communications and WStore Europe.
Prior to joining Gores in 2002, Mr. Katz was a member of UBS Warburg’s Los Angeles office where he focused on providing coverage to private equity firms and originating new transaction ideas. In 2000, Mr. Katz was a founding member of eVolution Global Partners, a venture capital firm established by Texas Pacific Group, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and Bain & Company. Mr. Katz began his career in 1996 at Colony Capital, an international private equity firm focused on real estate-related investments.
Mr. Katz received a B.S. in Economics with a concentration in Finance from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
