Former SVP & General Counsel; Oracle Corporation & Apple Inc.

Dan Cooperman is the former Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Oracle Corporation (1997-2007) under Larry Ellison and Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Apple Inc. (2007-2009) under Steve Jobs. Following his retirement from Apple, Dan served as Senior Counsel at Bingham McCutchen (now Morgan Lewis) and at DLA Piper LLP, a global law firm. During this period he taught a popular course he conceived, entitled “The Role of the Modern General Counsel,” at both Stanford Law and Business Schools.

Dan has a nearly 40-year career in law and business, highlighted by his in-house experience. Throughout his career he has focused on issues related to corporate governance, risk management and conflicts in the boardroom, as well as the role of the general counsel and management of global corporate law departments.Dan currently serves on the board of directors of Molina Healthcare, Inc. (NYSE: MOH), a Fortune 500 company specializing in providing health services for low-income families and individuals, where he chairs the nomination and corporate governance committee.

Dan also serves as a board member of Nanoscale Components, Inc., a lithium ion battery process developer. He is a strategic adviser to Institutional Venture Partners, an active angel investor and an adviser to several other private technology-based companies. He is a past board chairman of Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties, the food bank serving the Silicon Valley and currently serves on numerous nonprofit boards.

Prior to joining Oracle as General Counsel, Dan had been the Silicon Valley office managing partner at the law firm formerly known as Bingham McCutchen (now Morgan Lewis) and a consultant in strategic planning at McKinsey & Co. He received his JD and MBA degrees from Stanford, and graduated summa cum laude with highest distinction in economics from Dartmouth College.
