The Jewish Legal Network of Toronto, Canada, in partnership with the Canadian Jewish Law Students Association and the Jewish Graduate Student Initiative, invite you to the International Jewish Moot Court Competition.

This competition will give law students across Canada and the United States an incredible opportunity to spotlight your legal skills in front of top practitioners in North America. Join other Jewish Law students from around North America to argue Jewish law based on a fact pattern concerning organ donation and medical ethics.

Last year, our program involved students from University of Toronto, Osgoode, Windsor Law, University of Montreal, and McGill University. And we are excited to announce that this year we will expand our initiative into the United States to welcome fellow JLSA’s across North America to join in this competition.

We are currently in the process of looking for students who are interested in exploring the interplay between Jewish Law and Canadian Law/American Law to participate in this year’s competition. No vast Jewish legal experience is needed, all participants will receive a packet containing relevant Jewish law.

This year we are proud to announce some of the members of our esteemed panel:

  • The Honourable Supreme Court Justice of Canada, Michael Moldaver
  • The Honourable Michel M.J. Shore, Justice on the Federal Court of Appeal in Quebec
  • Justice Edward Prutschi, Justice at the Ontario Court of Justice
  • David Matas, renowned human rights lawyer and senior legal counsel to B’nai Brith
  • And many more to come!

CASH PRIZE AWARDS:

  • 1st Place -$1000 CAD
  • 2nd Place - $500 CAD
  • 3rd Place $250 CAD
